Moderator – kunstner Morten Traavik.

Speakers:_
Morten Strøksnes (born in Kirkenes) is a journalist and writer. He worked as an editor and journalist for Morgenbladet until 2004. Strøksnes has written essays and reportages for most of the Norwegian newspapers and magazines, as well as several books “Hellig grunn. En reiseskildring fra Midtøsten” (2001), “Automobil – gjennom Europas bakgård” (2005), “Hva skjer i Nord-Norge?” (2006), “Et mord i Kongo” (2010), and others. He also presents himself as “a reluctant spokesman for the Barents Liberation Army”.

Arne O. Holm (born in Bodø) is a writer, in-depth journalist and editor. He has worked for Dagbladet for 15 years, as a news editor of Dagens Næringsliv for 5 years and as an editor of Svalbardposten for 3 years. From 2002 to 2006 he was editor of documentary series Brennpunkt, NRK1. He has won several prizes for his social and political engaged reportages. Now he is a senior advisor at the Center for High North Development, Bodø.

Aslak Nore is a writer, non-fiction editor and journalist living in Oslo and (occasionally) New York. He made his literary debut with “Gud er Norsk” (2007), followed by “Ekstremistan: frykt og håp i det flerkulturelle Norge (2009). He has worked as a freelance journalist for Klassekampen, Samtiden, Elle, Ny Tid, VG and Aftenposten, and is the editor of Gyldendal publishing house’s non-fiction series ARENA.

The debate is followed by a presentation of the “High South Strategy” project, by Tromsø-poets Sigbjørn Skåden and Morten Wintervold. Their goal is to map opportunities for better growth and life quality in the Southern Norwegian areas (as opposed to “the High North strategy”).
