Stefano Cagol spends his last week in residency in Kirkenes, and is finishing the shooting for the video within his project «Evoke Provoke (the border)». The artist comes from Trento, the border area between Italy and Austria, and was excited to experience Kirkenes as a borderland in transition. In Cagol’s project, EVOKE means to recall consequences of the past and recent events and changes, while PROVOKE means to stimulate the border, maybe first of all – mental borders. The videofilm, as well as site-specific installations around the town, will be Cagol’s contribution to the exhibition within the annual festival Barents Spektakel 2011.
